I have had Screwpull Champagne openers for a long time and find them extremely useful. I give them as gifts, as well. If there's no one with strong hands about, and I'm stuck by myself in opening a bottle of champagne or sekt or prosecco and having difficulty with a stubborn cork, the Screwpull is the perfect solution. I highly recommend these bubbly elixirs of life--and recommend just as highly the Screwpull Champagne openers.

Paid $60 for this set, one of the last on Amazon. Worth every cent.Contrary to Le Creuset's statement in the customer image, their current products are not the same quality that you see displayed on this page. Items displayed on this page are the real thing, not to be confused with the made-in-China, fragile-black-finsh items Le Creuset is now selling. Glad they did not put the Screwpull logo on that junk.Unfortunately, you must now look elsewhere to find an original Screwpull SW-101 Stopper and/or Opener, satin finish, made in France by Le Creuset. Body and lever are solid, forged stainless steel. No delicate, easily-scratched black finish here. Stopper disk is Neoprene, or Neoprene-like material that will last decades longer than the 10-year warranty period. Just wash it occasionaly. Spring and hinge pin are stainless also.Minor complaint with the Opener because it works only with certain brand's corks. And, if you want to open a bottle of Cooks? No way. WMF Cork Pliers work well in any case.After 40 years of banging against other steel items in a kitchen drawer and having been dropped on concrete patios, our first one still looks good and functions flawlessly. Over the years we bought more for our use and as gifts. Many thank-you's and never a complaint.If your kids like sparkling wines, find the Stopper and gift it to them. WMF cork pliers are easier to use than the Screwpull Opener anyway. They will thank you long after you're gone.
