I love the corkscrew and foil cutter; this is at least the 4th set I've gotten to give as a small present. But I specifically ordered this item because it said it as the "table model gift set" and the picture showed the plastic stand to hold the corkscrew and foil cutter, and they came as separate pieces. I have the set with the plastic stand and it makes it possible to set this on a shelf in my wine cabinet instead of having to scrounge for it in a drawer. If I can find the set, I'll return this, but it is a stocking stuffer for my son and if I can't find the one I want, i'll keep it...in my opinion, this corkscrew is a kitchen necessity...in the 40 years I've been opening wine bottles, this is the best corkscrew I've ever used.

I got this set as a housewarming gift 8 years ago. I've loved it since day 1, and love it more every time I go to a friend's house that doesn't (yet!) have these. The designs are so simple and simply effective that, as an engineer, I'm always surprised that more corkscrews and foil cutters aren't so simple and effective. These make great gifts to any friend who drinks wine regularly (or even those like me, who aren't so regular). Not shown in the picture is a clear plastic box-cover that sits down on that black plastic base, over the set.The plastic sleeve of the corkscrew slips down over the neck of the bottle. The screw is actually a separate piece that goes down through a hole in the center of the sleeve. Hold the sleeve on the bottle neck with one hand and use the plastic handle to turn the screw into the cork with the other hand, and just keep turning to draw the cork up and out of the bottle. Slip the sleeve and screw off the bottle, then squeeze the sleeve lightly on the cork to let the little ridges keep the cork from spinning along with the screw as you turn it the other way to extract the screw from the cork.The foil cutter has four very sharp little cutting wheels in a flexible frame that slips down over the top of the bottle, and a quick spin or two with a moderate grip cuts the foil neatly and level so you can just pop it off the top of the bottle (if it doesn't fall off when you lift the cutter off).The fact that so much is plastic might seem worrisome, but it's been very durable for me, and reviews on other variants of these items for sale mention product lives of 25 years. You'll use so little force with these items that the plastic is more than sturdy enough.
