I purchased this corkscrew as a gift for a friend along with a few other unusual kitchen items and this was by far the best made of the bunch.It is heavy, substantial, and definitely feels like it should last for a few years. My friend was extremely pleased with the way it sits upright next to her wine bottles and I thought the silicone body felt comfortable when gripping the bird.My friend's husband was familiar with Boston Warehouse design and said, "Man, would I ever like to work at that place!" He's an artist and furniture designer and thought that the BW design team was probably having a ton of fun dreaming up quirky kitchen tools.Update 12/2012: Just visited my friend and the bird is still going strong! He looks and behaves as new. And she's used him to open hundreds of bottles of wine in the last two years. He never fails to be admired by party guests. Great job!

NOT ONLY IS THIS CORKSCREW COOL LOOKING BUT IT IS STURDY, WELL MADE AND LONG LASTING. My roommate made fun of me for getting it saying I can use her "grown up" corkscrew but after she tried my Blue Jay one night she was hooked and never used her "grown up" corkscrew again. It is VERY easy to use, fool-proof, and requires less man power than a regular corkscrew. I've had this corkscrew for 3 years now and I've never had a problem with it; it's sturdy, made from high quality materials and smooth.When you twist the Blue Jay's head the bird's wings go up indicating that the corkscrew is going in properly. When the wings are all the way extended to the Blue Jay's head that means it's time to pop the cork- simply press down on the wings and the cork is pulled up quickly and with ease. Very neat.
